Eco-Friendly, High-Quality Product Sourcing

Apparel

The Process – All of our apparel must go through a process of fabric creation, cutting, sewing, design printing, and finally shipping to you! We are diligent in the examination and testing of the suppliers we choose and their processes to make sure that all of our products not only meet our high-quality standards but are also environmentally friendly every step of the way.

The Fabric – To ensure waste is kept at a minimum, we utilize high-quality premium fabric. Our suppliers use airlume cotton, which is cleaner and creates tighter weaves, meaning fabric lasts longer and maintains shape better.  It is much softer than poorer-quality fabrics too! Our organic apparel is made with 100% organic airlume cotton.

The Production - Our eco-friendly apparel is made in the USA but our organic products are created in Germany.  Summaries of the eco-friendly and positive work practices for both locations are below.

Eco-Friendly T-shirts and Tank Tops from the USA

Cut and Dye – Fabric is dyed and cut in California under strict EPA guidelines in an eco-friendly manufacturing site.

  • Our supplier uses 7x less water than the average textile manufacturer.
  • Facilities use skylights, solar power, and motion-sensor LED lighting to minimize electricity use.
  • Water is treated in a state-of-the-art water treatment plant to remove any chemicals and dyes.
  • Electric car charging stations encourage employees to go green.
  • Virtually zero waste. The supplier recycles and reuses every material possible. Scrap fabric is repurposed into products such as pillow stuffing and dog bed filling.  Woof!

Sewing – Shirts are sewn in California and Central America in WRAP-certified facilities. Our supplier visits the facilities in Central America and works with humanitarian organizations like United Way to improve people's lives in local communities.

Labor Standards – Our eco-friendly product supplier labor standards are top-notch and must have the following credentials:

  • Fair Labor Association (FLA) participant
  • WRAP-certified facilities (considers all aspects of a healthy work environment)
  • 100% no sweatshop, eco-friendly, humane manufacturing facilities

Printing and Shipping – Once the fabric is cut, dyed, and ready for printing, our supplier uses eco-friendly methods and is intentionally chosen geographically.

  • Having our printing supplier located in Florida minimizes our environmental impact from shipping.
  • Direct-to-garment (DTG) Printing is eco-friendly. It prints designs directly onto garments which means there is no waste of ink or other materials. The machines print each garment individually, avoiding the waste seen with bulk printing.
  • Our chosen printing supplier maintains the entire process eco-friendly. Their inks are water-based, bio-degradable, and non-toxic.
  • Their entire production processes are fully automated and paperless.

Organic T-shirts and Apparel from Germany

The Fabric - Our organic products are made of 100% organic airlume ringspun cotton that is very soft and premium quality.

The Printing - Each item is printed on demand, after an order is placed to reduce our business' environmental impact and CO2 emissions. The printing machines use very little water. The inks we use are water-based Kornit NeoPigment inks, which are biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly. In addition, the printing inks are free of toxins, animal ingredients (vegan) and comply with the strictest, globally recognized industry standards.

Donations of Misprints and Returns - If an item is defective, it is recycled through local donations to second-hand stores and upcycling manufacturers.

Recyclable Packaging - Our organic products come in recyclable packaging. In addition, our organic apparel supplier uses transport packaging that is Green Dot licensed, meaning they comply with the German Packaging Act.  The Green Dot is the standard used in many European countries to enforce eco-friendly packaging practices.

Green Electricity from 100% Renewable Energies - Renewable energies not only reduce the use of limited raw materials but also avoid the generation of toxic waste products. For this reason, our organic apparel supplier only uses electricity from 100% renewable energies from their TUV-certified energy supplier.

Labor Standards - Our organic fabric suppliers are all GOTS certified and all audited by the Fair Wear Foundation.

  • GOTS, Global Organic Textile Standard - This is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.  Read more on the GOTS website.
  • Fair Wear Foundation - This non-profit's mission is "to see a world where the garment industry supports workers in realising their rights to safe, dignified, properly paid employment." Read more about them on the Fair Wear Foundation website.
